These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Spyglass (the "App"), a macOS menu-bar app with Quick Look and Finder thumbnail extensions that preview Markdown, source code, archives, Google Drive files and other file types, published by Magicelk Labs ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Spyglass is source-available under the PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0, which governs your rights to the code. These Terms govern your use of the distributed App and its paid features. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the App.
Spyglass is intended for users aged 13 or older. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement and that your use complies with all laws that apply to you.
Every format preview is free for 7 days, counted from the first time you open the App. The trial does not need a payment card or an account. When it ends, format previews show plain text or a short summary of the file until you activate a license. The Google Drive info card stays free, with or without a license.
Spyglass Pro is a one-time purchase. Its license key unlocks every format preview on your own Macs, with no expiry. Spyglass Drive is a subscription, described in section 5.
Both are sold through Gumroad. Gumroad is the merchant of record: it processes your payment, and its terms and refund policy apply to your purchase. We do not see or store your payment details. Refunds, where offered, are handled through Gumroad.
You activate a purchase by pasting the license key from your Gumroad receipt into the App. If a payment is refunded or reversed, the license key from that purchase stops working.
Spyglass Drive includes everything in Spyglass Pro, plus rendered Google Drive previews and Finder thumbnails. It is billed monthly through Gumroad and renews automatically until you cancel. New subscriptions start with a 7-day free trial on Gumroad, which requires a payment card.
You can cancel at any time from your Gumroad receipt or your Gumroad account. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Refunds of subscription payments are handled the same way as for one-time purchases (section 4). When a subscription ends, Google Drive files go back to the free info card, and format previews need a Spyglass Pro license.
If you bought Spyglass 1.0, your existing license key keeps working. It unlocks Spyglass Drive for life, at no charge and without a subscription.
Rendered Google Drive previews are part of Spyglass Drive and require
you to sign in with Google. When you do, the App requests read-only access
using the drive.readonly scope. It cannot edit, delete, or
share your files. Your use of Google services through the App is also
subject to
Google's Terms of Service.
You may revoke the App's access at any time from your
Google Account permissions.

The App relies on services it does not control, including Google Drive and the Google APIs used to fetch previews, and Gumroad, which sells licenses and confirms license keys. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. Spyglass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, or that previews will render for every file, especially as Apple or Google change their platforms and APIs.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Magicelk Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising out of your use of or inability to use the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed USD 50.
You may stop using the App and revoke its Google access at any time. Cancelling a Spyglass Drive subscription is covered in section 5. We may suspend or end your right to use the App if you breach these Terms. The sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above. Your continued use of the App after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Israel will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, unless mandatory law in your place of residence provides otherwise.
